KCP Air Abrasion
The kinetic cavity preparation system is an exciting new advancement in
dentistry. It's an instrument that can be used as an alternative to the
drill in many procedures. A microscopically fine powder is carried to
the tooth by a stream of air, gently spraying away decay. In a simple
sense, you could say it works like a precise miniature sandblaster.
It is most commonly used to prepare various types of cavities to be
restored with composites, or "white fillings." Air abrasion also can be
effectively used to repair cracks and discolorations, prepare tooth
surfaces for bonding procedures, and perform additional procedures.
Air abrasion procedures are virtually painless, which, in most cases,
eliminates the need for an anesthetic injection. There is no vibration
and no heat from friction. Because air abrasion cuts tooth surfaces with
the utmost precision, it removes less tooth than the drill and it
reduces the risk of enamel micro-fracturing. In other words, the
advantages are that more of your tooth is preserved, there is little or
no discomfort, no anesthetic numbness is needed, and treatment time is
usually shorter.
Lasers
Because Dr. Firouzian cares a lot about our patient's comfort, he uses
dental lasers to provide dentistry that is faster and pain-free. Heat
and vibration are the cause of most of the discomfort associated with
the drill, and 99 percent of dental procedures do not even require
anesthesia when performed with a laser. Our goal is to make your dental
experience as comfortable as possible.
Digital X-rays
With digital radiography, Dr. Firouzian takes x-rays of your teeth with
90 percent less radiation to you than with a regular dental x-ray
machine. Then he can store your x-rays on our computers and access them
faster than ever before.
Diagnostic Wax-Up
With a diagnostic wax-up, you have a blueprint of what your new smile
will look like. By using an impression of your teeth, Dr. Firouzian can
create a temporary, yet natural-looking three-dimensional representation
of the final outcome of your smile.
This is ideal for patients
considering crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, and other advanced
cosmetic procedures. With a diagnostic wax-up, we can fabricate
temporary veneers or crowns for you to wear, so that you can evaluate
them as part of your new smile before we make it permanent. This allows
us to make adjustments on the length of the teeth, as well as address
any other concerns. There's no need to imagine, anymore.
Cosmetic Imaging
Ever wonder what your smile would look like after whitening or any other
type of cosmetic procedure? With our advanced imaging software, Dr.
Firouzian can show you a before and after smile makeover of your teeth,
printed for you on high quality glossy paper.
Intraoral Camera
The Center for Family Cosmetic Dentistry's intraoral camera system in
Columbus, Ohio allows you to view your teeth on a TV monitor providing
us with a more thorough and accurate diagnosis of your dental health.
With an intraoral camera, we can magnify your mouth and show you exactly
what we're talking about on a screen. This allows you to see for
yourself the crack, the stain, the gap, and the receding gum line. You
don't just have to take our word for it anymore.
Tomography
At the Center for Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in Columbus, Ohio, we use
state-of-the-art three-dimensional computerized tomography (CT) dental
scanning for many dental procedures, particularly those related to
disorders of the temporomandibular joint and sleep disorders. This quick
and safe diagnostic imaging exam produces life-like spatial views of the
mouth. With 3D imaging, we can proceed with confidence. A CT scan is a
safe procedure.
Because our scanner is so fast, patients are through
with their test in a fraction of the time of other scanners, greatly
reducing their x-ray exposure. With a CT dental scan, there is no
contrast dye involved and the entire exam takes about 15 minutes. After
the exam, our 3D imaging staff produces three-dimensional images, which
provides us with valuable data crucial to the success of treatment.
Cavitron
Cavitron Technology, Ultrasonic Scaler and Polishing System, Water
instrument used for to remove tarter and stain could be used as an
alternative to traditional scalers hygienists.

that your time is important to you. Using the latest in dental technology,
CEREC, we can completely restore your smile in one visit. Depending
on severity, the entire procedure takes one to two hours, from imaging
to implant. No temporary crowns, no impressions to send off to a lab,
no second visit.
Starting with high-resolution digital imaging, we take pictures of
your damaged tooth with the specially-designed CEREC camera. This will
generate a 3D model of your tooth. CERECs Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
technology then allows you and Dr. Firouzian to design the restoration
on a computer monitor right at your chair!
Once the restoration has been designed, the CEREC system takes over,
and begins to sculpt your new restoration out of a block of ceramic.
A high-speed diamond-topped drill and disk worth together to ensure
that the restoration fits precisely into your existing tooth.
We then
use ultra-strong adhesive to bond the restoration to your tooth. Best
of all with CEREC restorations, there is no unsightly silver in your
mouth. We use ceramic that matches the natural color of your tooth.
Its also plaque-resistant, so we can save more of your healthy tooth.
